Security Analyst, Adib Saani, has described the alleged post election attacks by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as spiteful to Ghana’s democracy.
Speaking on TV3 midday news, the Security Analyst contended that Ghana has earned for herself an enviable position in the international community as a consolidated democracy for her ability to conduct free and fair elections over the years without full scale violence.
He however was full of disappointment that some few miscreants would want to derail the process by attacking political opponents and destroy public property. He appealed to the various political parties to call on their followers to desist from such acts as it is inconsistent with our democracy.
Saani put the blame partly on the culture of impunity festering in the country and called on the police and other security agencies to expedite investigation and bring perpetrators to book to serve as a deterrent to others.
“We cannot throw our hard won democratic credentials to the dogs”, he lamented.
